New all-girls school focuses on STEM

ST. LOUIS - In just a few months, the halls of an old St. Louis school building will once again ring with the sound of children's voices. Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls is set to open this fall at the corner of North Kingshighway & Cote Brilliante.

When it comes to passion for her job, Dr. Robyn Wiens may be the definition. She is the principal at the new all-girls public charter school.

There will be a lot of renovations coming to the historic building. Right now, it's a work in progress, with ceiling holes that need to be filled, along with other repairs that are long overdue. The building dates back to the 1920s. It was previously known as McBride Catholic High, then MLK High, and most recently, Imagine Academy of Careers Middle School.

Hopes are high that this change is a keeper.
