Originally known as a celebration of President George Washington's birthday, President's day is a holiday celebrating our most venerated figures within the United States of America - The Presidents.

Officially signed into law in 1879 by President Rutherford B. Hayes (at the time known as Washington's Birthday) it was the first nationally recognized holiday to celebrate the life of an individual American.
